Parasite Prevention

Parasites of dogs and cats include intestinal worms, fleas, ticks and heartworm. We provide a number of options to help control these pesky organisms. Some of these can also be passed onto humans, so treating our animals is a helpful way of preventing spread to the family. Others, such as ticks and heartworms, can become life-threatening.

All puppies and kittens should be started on worm preventative treatments at 2 weeks of age. This is then continued every 2 weeks until 12 weeks old. From 12 weeks, monthly treatments are given until 6 months, where most animals can go onto a 3 monthly worming regime. Cats living indoor only can be wormed annually from 6 months.

We currently stock monthly, 3 monthly, 6 monthly and annual (dogs only) options for flea, tick and heartworm preventatives. Have a talk to us today to work out what would best suit you and your pet.
